FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you service?
We service all areas across Queensland and New South Wales recently affected by major storms. Our primary hubs include Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and down to Newcastle.
How quickly can you respond to a claim?
We strive to respond as quickly as possible, usually within 24-48 hours of your request. Following a major storm event, we prioritize emergency inspections to ensure properties are made safe.
What should I do immediately after a storm?
How do I know if my roof actually has storm or hail damage?
How much do your services cost?
Our initial inspections and building reports are 100% free. If your claim is successful, we are paid a management fee by our network of licensed builders. You are never billed directly for our advocacy or report-filing services.
Do I need to pay my insurance excess upfront?
No. In fact, for successful residential claims, we absorb up to $500 of your insurance excess. For commercial claims, we can cover up to $10,000. Our goal is to ensure your restoration is a $0 out-of-pocket experience.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Yes. We work directly with your insurance company to ensure all repairs are covered under your policy. We provide the forensic evidence and professional building reports they require to approve a full scope of works.
Does filing a storm claim increase my insurance premium?
Insurance premiums are generally based on the collective risk of your postcode. If a major storm hits your area, premiums usually rise for the entire region. Filing an individual claim for legitimate storm damage rarely has a significant impact on your specific rate.
Can I stay in my home during the roof replacement?
In almost all cases, yes. While there will be some noise and construction activity, you can remain safely inside. Our project managers will keep you informed of the schedule so you can plan accordingly.
How long will it take to repair my roof?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the claim and the insurer’s response time. Once the claim is approved, the physical restoration usually takes 2-5 days, depending on the size of the roof and the materials used.
My insurance claim was already denied. Can you still help?
Why should I use Storm Claims Assist instead of just calling my insurer?
Standard insurance assessors work for the insurance company. We work for you. We ensure that the “Scope of Works” is comprehensive, covering every detail of the damage so you receive a full restoration rather than a cheap, temporary patch.
What warranties do I get on completion?
We believe in quality that lasts. Every restoration we manage is backed by a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty, in addition to the standard manufacturer warranties on premium materials like Colorbond® steel.
